I have Warhammer 40,000 Dawn of War, and all 3 of the expansions (Winter Assault, Dark Crusade, and Soulstorm). I was wondering. Do I play each game seperately (like say if I had all 4 icons on the desktop) would I play the original, then winter assault, then dark crusade, and then soulstorm. Or could I straight away start with the latest expansion and still get all the campaign stuff from the earlier games and everything else? Or does each game have to be played seperately?Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War question?
About the Single Player Campaign:
each game/expansion has his own sequence of missions OR Risiko-looking map to complete, so they all have their different game launcher;
Single Player Skirmish:
you can play with all races until the ones introduce by the expansion (Dark Crusade = no Sisters%26amp;Darks)
MULTIPLAYER GAMING:
to play a game online, you have to introduce the serial number of each expansion to play the races introduced online. For example, if you ain't got Winter Assault, you'll not be able to play with the IG.
As you say you have all 4 games, you just have to introduce each serial number when creating an online account to play with all 9 races.

well im not exactely sure but i know that each game has a little diffrent story and game play so if you want to play each game you have to do it in each seperate games

Steam/Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War Gold Edition help?
Me and a friend bought the Warhammer platinum edition, which came with DoW Gold and Dark Crusade. I had to redownload my Gold because I had the same problem that I am currently having.
When I click play in Steam for DoW Gold, a error message screen appears saying,
"System Initialization failed!
ERRORS: Could not find the required data. Make sure you are running this utility from your Dawn of War directory."
And then the Dawn of War Graphics Configuration window appears and has a blank screen. I can't do anything except hit cancel.
What am I doing wrong? I have an HP Palvilion g6.Steam/Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War Gold Edition help?

Pc System Problems - Warhammer Dawn of War?
I have recently purxchased the warhammer dawn of way boxed set for my Pc. The game Installs and runs and i am able to play skirmish games no problem. However when i try and play the campaign the menu and "world map" screen flickers on and off. it goes from the normal screen to a black screen and back. It stays on each screen for around 1/2 a second. Is there a setting or an upgrade i can change to have this working better. The system does meet the minimum requirments, and as i say it can run the game.Pc System Problems - Warhammer Dawn of War?
Ensure that your monitor is set to a good resolution (1048x840 is about the accepted standard)
The flickering may occur because it has to keep manually changing the resolution of the screen.
CHange the resolution in windows and in game assure that the resolution (which can be accessed through 'options' 'graphics setting') are all at the same level.
If it works fine in skirmish this may also imply that its the graphics rendering in the 'cut scenes', ensure your graphics card meets the requirements (eg. T%26amp;L/SHADING compatable) but as i said, flikering is generally the result of poor screen resolution and the game keeps having to switch it.
PS - ENsure you download the latest patch as well (which are quite tricky to find since there are 10 of them and they are all incrimentals ((eg,. 1.01 1.1 2.0 2.01 2.1 all the way up to about 5.1)
Without this patch you may find an issue on the 3rd mission.

that sounds like two things that u don't have enough ventral memory or that yor graphic card can't handle the work load. if u are running a integrated graphics card u may think that yor rig(comp) might have 512. but really u only have about 460 since yor graphics card eats up the other ram.

GW learned what a catastrophy the lord of the Rings game turned out to be (good sales while the movies were new, terrible ever since) and at least LotR was similar to their existing stuff. Star Wars is too different and too expensive legally.

Soulstorm is good. The campaign is much bigger, two new races (very fleshed out too, not a couple cheap "throw them in there" armies). The new air units are pretty solid, too. Most are basic, as you'd expect, flying units. The marines can make their flyer launch krak or frag missiles...the necrons can have their leader change into the other c'tan god (the Deceiver)...just to name a couple.
The orks are pretty unique. All of their buildings have gretchin gunners on them, so they are hard to do an early rush against. They also have a special resource that is based on how many boyz you have....so the more orks you have, the more you can build. As they say...

I don't really know why a RTS game would have ranks but other games such as COD4 or many other shooters have ranks to show how good you are at playing that game or for COD4 it unlocks guns, perks and challenges. But the only reason why Dawn Of War would have a have a ranking system would be so that others know how good you are at playing.

im plaing as space marines and i am fighting eldar. they have certain units, called rangers, who can go invisible.

Then as a little twist, you can upgrade your skull probes at the HQ and make them infiltrated. What i would do is attach them to a scout squad and make the squad and the probe infiltrated through upgrades from HQ.
Your next option is to get a librarian. He is a powerful commander and will less likely die. use his abilities to stay alive.
Other options are using bombarding attacks. If you know were they are, then get a unit that can attack the ground there. This also works with grey knights as you can you there psyker ability to wipe out any troops you cant see.

I am not sure, but there is a software program called steam. You can download it off the internet and I know that even if there isn't one pack they have a download that gives you all of them.
And just another bonus, there are no disks to get lost... its all downloaded straight to the pc and once you have it downloaded its guaranteed. If your computer crashes or there is some reason you lose it you can download it again for free. (assuming you bought it to begin with... you do have to buy it to start with.) But you do get all the cd keys included so you can re download if there is a problem with the actual game at any time.

Trying to run Warhammer Dawn of War II- HELP!?
I am trying to run Dawn of War II on my computer. I have a 2010 Macbook pro. I have partitioned a windows side with plenty of memory left for the game. The game installed properly, steam and all. However, when I try to open it says something is wrong with the rendering device or something. It says check DirectX or graphic card. The min requirement for the graphics is a nvidia geforce 6600 gt and I know mine is better seeing it came out in 2010 as opposed to 05. Here are the specs. Can anyone help me PLEASE!! Im a huge warhammer fan and very sad!

Warhammer Dawn of War Series Exp?
I am thinking of buy the warhammer dawn of war game and i have a few questions about the expansions. The latest expansion Soul Storm is (stand alone) meaning you dont need the previous games in the series to play correct? Well would you benefit from having them all though? Like Soul Storm doesn't include the units from the winter assault expansion? Or you only get the maps that come with it? None from the other expansions? And how would the online play work exactly? Can i play with someone who just has Dawn of War? Or someone who has the Dark Crusade (stand alone expansion) Would I need everyone in game in the series to get the full experience? The standalone has all the previous factions from the past in campaign and skirmish however you can not use the previous factions in multiplayer.

Warhammer 40k Dawn of War 2 Product number?
Okay so I bought Dawn of war 2 and wanted to try it out on my friends computer since I was not going to get home for another week. We put it in and entered the product code and now it says it is permanently attached to his Stream account which he said may mean I can't play it on my computer or any other now. Is there a way to get it off his computer so I can install it to my and still go online and do everything or do I have to buy a whole new game?Warhammer 40k Dawn of War 2 Product number?

The version my son wants is for Windows 98, so it is an older game. I have read that the newer version is quite violent, and has a lot of gore. The older version includes "dawn of war" and "winter assault". The rating is M, but it indicates only blood and violence. I'd say the Dawn of War series is at the low end of the "M" rating as I have seen games far more violent and gory. You will see blood when guys get shot and see guys get run through with a sword along with the spray of blood. There are tanks, machine guns, and explosions, but the game is focused more towards a futuristic real-time strategy game than blood %26amp; gore. There is a race called Chaos that uses demons, mutations, and spells as weapons along with the guns %26amp; tanks.

If you've lost the serial number of your disk, then you are in a tough spot. There are some websites that give out those, but none are guaranteed to work. And I think that's also illegal.

I'm now working on the battle of macragge starter set, but I'm not going either space marine or tyranid. I don't really know much about them, but I was leaning a bit towards Tau. I also want one with a somewhat modest price, but I will pay a bit extra if it is worth it.Which is the best in Warhammer 40k (specifically tabletop game and not dawn of war): Tau, Necron, or Eldar?
It really depends on what you're looking for. If you want to buy an army as cheaply as possible and get it painted and looking good on the tabletop in the shortest possible time, then it's Necrons all the way. The average warrior is expensive enough that even a 2,000 point army will be smaller numerically than almost any other army (with the possible exception of Deathwing). And painting is just a matter of "spray paint black, drybrush Boltgun Metal, add plastic rods".
On the other hand, there's a lot to be said for both the other two choices in terms of pure tactical opportunity.
The Tau have by far the deadliest ranged weapons in the game. A railgun will make mincemeat even of a Land Raider, and even the Shas'la's simple pulse rifle can outshoot damn near anything else you can name. Add in the stealthsuits and sniper drones and you've got a highly potent force - but don't over-estimate the battlesuits. They are best used as mobile fire-points, not as assault troops - unless you're attacking something small and squishy like Imperial Guard. Despite their bulk and size, their low numbers and low initiative make them easy prey even to a basic Space Marine tactical squad in the assault.
Eldar are a hugely popular army at the moment and it's easy to see why: good-looking, colourful and elite, they have a lot going for them. But they are terribly, terribly fragile and need careful handling and practice to make best use of them. Shuriken catapults should not, however, be underestimated. In sufficient numbers they can be deadly - especially in the hands of the Dire Avengers, who can use the Shuriken Storm special rule to double their shots!
It's worth noting, though, that 5th Edition is now on the horizon and the Eldar's "fleet of foot" is about to lose a lot of its strength when *all* infantry troops gain the "run" ability - which is exactly the same as Fleet, except that you can't Assault in the same turn.
If I were thinking of buying one of these three right now, I think I'd go with Tau. They fall somewhere between the Eldar and the Necrons in terms of both price and ease of painting, but they have a strong "cool" factor and some brilliant models. They also offer the widest range of tactical options (although assaulting should never be on the menu unless you have Kroot).
tyranids are the best at close combat. They can also move really far. i have a 3200 point tyranid army. red terror is also awesome he can swallow whole units in a go.

If you are looking for a good range of shooting and combat (even if they are a bit squishy) then Eldar is the way to go. They have a great selection of troops and vehicles and what I consider to be one of the best tanks in the game...The fire prism.
On the cost front it all depends on what you use in your army lists. Usually you can get about 1500 points worth of army for around $300-400 dollars. I know for a fact though that if you go Tyranids and run alot of Monstrous creatures you can build your force for much less if your good at conversion work.
On a totally unrelated side, if you want to get rid of the marines and gfenestealers from your macragge set let e-mail me at mjobrien10@yahoo.com and we can work out a trade or something. I'm converting all the normal marines I can dig up to use in my chaos marine army. and I never turn down a good deal on more genestealers for my tyranid army.

Ok to answer the first part of your problem... there is no best army in 40k. Each army has its own strengths and weaknesses and they perform on how you balance your army lists, how you like to play and who your opponent is.
I've ran through a 1500 point tau army in 3 turns, twice in one day and lost less than a full squad in both games ( hard to beleive i know but him trying to deepstrike his commander in behind my dreadnought and scattering off the edge of the table board .... in both games.... didn't help his cause.)
I've also been beaten by a tau player as well and the have had wins and losses against eldar as well.
I will say though that goin for ease of use and the easyest to paint with i would probably recommend a necron army... watch your foes face as you deep strike a few monoliths into his lines... and his units have to move out of the way when you teleport in.... works especially well on guard - each mono has d6 shots at each squad within 12 inches ( thats 12 inches of each of its gauss flux arcs and thats going from around the edge of the model so your looking at an area close to 30 inches around and then theres the particle whip.... st9 ap3 ord blast...... then times all of that by 2 if you use 2 of them.....
In respect to the price side of things i don't think you will save much money going with any one army but i highly reccomend checking out ebay for some really cheap pieces and even entire army sets that people don't want anymore.

What's your computer specs, are you sure it meets the minimum requirements.
Also, if you're running many processes in the background it will slow down the game.
Run virus scans/spyware scans it maybe be that that's the problem.

Whats a good strategy for using the Imperial Guard in Warhammer 40K Dawn of War?
a good defense strategy for the I.G is hit and run because if you don't have armor units then your screwed so use hit and run first then get the baneblade and at least 2 leman russ tanks then gather all of your troops to surround the enemy base then attack, use infantry then armor to rush also have a good amount of basilisks to bomb their base.argus vance and hines

hey... halo wars didn't get good reviews so that one must be off the list. whereas i just read the review of warhammer and the critics say that it is a great game but lacks a little bit on multiplayer since it offers only 1 on 1 or 3on 3 in multi. otherwise they say it is perfect.

I want to start a Squig Herder when the game starts, and I'm not sure which pre-order is best. They all have the Portable Camp, but the bands vary on the type of damage - corporeal, spiritual, or elemental. Ok I keep losing, what can I do to NOT keep losing? I seem to recognize a pattern in the game. I ALWAYS KEEP DIEING IN THE BEGINNING. Everytime I try to get a victory point I get outnumbered, how am I being outnumbered/outmuscled in the beginning of the game so quickly and easily?

Instead of buying the expansions separately, see if you can get the Anthology (Contains Dawn of War, Winter Assault, and Dark Crusade)... I picked this up from my local Game for 拢30, which worked out as 拢10 cheaper (expansions were 拢19.99 each, Anthology was 拢29.99).
Sure you get another copy of Dawn of War, but if its cheaper, its cheaper...

Steam Multiplayer Issue - Warhammer 40k Dawn of War?
I've recently bought Warhammer 40k: Dawn of War on Steam (Dark Crusade and Winter Assault if it matters). However when I go to sign up for a Gamespy account, the game will not let me - it says that I require a CD in the drive. Now obviously, because I bought the game off of steam I don't have a CD. It is a really good game (there are a few imbalances but patches are coming out to remedy those problems) and the single player is really long and good (customizable squads and it'll take way longer than 4-5 hours to complete). Multi-player isn't a bad thing to get stuck with either.

If you like the intense tactical battles and strategically fun thinking required for DoW 2, then get DoW 2 for the amazing graphics and the in depth troop salvation and utilization.

Try a diferent army might not be the ones for you, it gets tougher as you advance, hell I had it all with chaos when I got to the end at IG I couldn't beat them so ended up beating it with Eldar, try changing your strategynational tire and battery

Does anybody make a World War II version of Warhammer?
Like Warhammer 40k where you make the figures and paint them yourself. I have axis and allies but that is more of a board game.Does anybody make a World War II version of Warhammer?
When it comes to historical wargames, there are *always* games for every scale and every conceivable historical period.
However, if you're looking for something with a close similarity to Warhammer or Warhammer 40,000 then there are two obvious suggestions.
The first is Flames of War [1], which is based loosely on the rules for Warhammer 40,000 and accompanied by an extensive range of miniatures in the 15mm scale (Warhammer and Warhammer 40,000 are both 28mm games). The game is divided into Early, Mid- and Late War periods, due the rapidly-changing technological bases of these times (a Late War force would annihilate an Early War force in real terms), although it is possible to run forces from one against forces from another.
The second is Secrets of the Third Reich [2], from Westwind Games, which is technically an Alternate WW2 game, including, as it does, weird things like zombies, psychic powers and werewolves. But using 28mm Bolt Action miniatures from Warlord Games, SOTTR still works perfectly well as a good WW2 skirmish game. dude Warcraft 3 is an awesome game. I still play that game every once in a while. The servers are up still so you can still find games to play. Trust me its worth it. OH, but get Warcraft 3 Frozen Throne, its the expansion. All you really need to know beforehand is that humanity has colonized the stars, and they have elite chapters of superhuman warriors called Space Marines. You're playing as the Blood Ravens chapter, and the rest pretty much gets explained to you in cutscenes and tutorials. Good luck!

Painted them all grey. Then cut them for doorways, planted floor tiles (for game movement) Then added bits of pipes sticking out with painted oil dripping, loose wires.Called it urban decay. Sort a bombed out look. We played a bunch of games on those. They worked well as the scale was correct and in some places it gave a two level effect. I've never played the game before but I know it comes give the game +2 expansions, and the videos on YouTube were pretty nice. I usually stick with Blizzard games - real quality - and don't know if this game'll be worth it, I have my doubts. The resource system is different than most traditional RTS games, you don't gather, but hold points that give you resources. It's pretty fast paced and there are really awesome kill animations.

No. Other than teaching you the basic unit types and races, the two games have little to complement each other. Learning to play 40k is much more about understanding probabilities and chance, as well as space and manoeuvre.
DOW has elements of this, of course, but with the software platform providing the calculations for you, there's no need to be mentally juggling for six S4, I4 hits against his seven S3, I5 hits and wondering whether it's worth charging this turn or if you should just sit tight and blast him...

yes...you need to make sure you have the latest patch. If you are playing the original Dawn of War, just google that and software patches.

I'm fairly certain the answer is no. It depends if you bought DoW through steam or if you have it on CD.
If you bought it through steam then the answer is almost surely no. When you buy through steam you do not buy the game, you but the rights to the game. This means you need to play it through steam so you can't simply copy it and give it to anyone you like.
If you bought it on CD it should be possible. I somehow doubt that is the case here though.
